FAT32 versus NTFS
Q. I installed Windows XP,
but did not know whether
to use FAT32 or NTFS.
I chose FAT32. Was this correct?
A. FAT32 and NTFS are file formats.
FAT32 is an evolutionary
development of the file allocation table, a system that
goes back to DOS. The New Technology File System (NTFS)
was developed
for Windows NT. Microsoft
recommends that you use NTFS, which it says is more fault
tolerant and has better security.
You can convert to NTFS.
Click Start>>
All Programs>>
Accessories>>
Command Prompt. At the command prompt, type
convert C: /fs:ntfs. That assumes your hard drive
is C:. If it is not, substitute
the correct letter. |

Most infants start
drinking fruit juice by the age of six months. That's fine for
most infants and most juices, but the journal Archives of
Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine has a warning.
A baby's digestive system isn't fully developed, and some
infants have a hard time absorbing sorbitol. If these infants
are given juice with a lot of sorbitol, their metabolic rate
increases, as does their level of physical activity. That's
not always a good idea. The juice with the most sorbitol is
pear juice, so you might want to hold back on that for a
while. White grape juice is probably the safest to start a
baby on. |

quest for an independent homeland of their own where they
could live in peace, harmony and in accordance with the tenets
of Islam.”
The Prime Minister in his message said: “Your government has
striven hard to put into effect hopes and wishes of the
founder of Pakistan. The nation has shaken off the ill effects
of the past and has set itself on the path towards progress
and prosperity. Democracy has been firmly re-planted into the
body politic of Pakistan.” He urged the people to pledge on
this historic day to devote all their energies to the
fulfillment of the ideals set for us by the founding father
and the Pakistan Resolution.

Pakistan Day in Al-Khobar

including the attendance of many distinguished guests.

importance of Pakistan day.
The Pakistani Flag was hoisted and a brief speech given by

song‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’ with the encouragement of the
guests and were given gifts for their participation. More
national songs were sung by some of the adult participants
with the help of the superbly talented singer and musician Bakhtiar

provoking play written by Mrs. Tazeen Iftikhar. Sayed Javed
Nadeem conducted an interesting quiz on Pakistan for children
and Mrs. Sameena Nadeem presented the prizes. Khalid Siddiqui
delighted the guests with his vibrant versions of various
national songs and the sound of laughter resonated in the hall
with stand up comedy performed by Gul Raiz Butt of King Faisal
University. The laughter did not stop there when a hilarious skit
written by Nadeem Khwaja was performed with the commanding
acting debuts of Awais Usman, Ali Khan and Khalid Khan. The
final event was a kids and adults talent show where all the
participants were winners.
The whole occasion was brought to a close by the bravura
performance of the musicians and with tributes to the

member of the gathering, “the best thing about today is that
all the children received a nice gift and we learnt something
about Pakistan.”

Is Now the Time To Buy
Shares in Pakistan Stock Markets?
For our simple answer to this tough puzzle, please read the
following paragraphs:
After the 9/11 our Karachi Stock Market went down up to 1070
level but soon after its starts recovering and break history,
went peek level at 2991 on 16-01-2003 almost 3 times up from
the bottom level. This was the only due to strengthening of
our economy, rescheduled or write-off internationals billions
$ loans, record State Banks reveres and flight of $ form USA
to Pakistan. During 2002 our Karachi Stock Market declared
the best performer stock market in the world.
Now, The best performing market of the world plunged into
crisis and touched 2400 level almost 20% down from the recent
peak level. We strongly believe that the recent fall has
nothing to do with fundamentals, technical or economy. A
crisis likes situation arisen only because of mounting threat
of attack by US on Iraq.
US-Iraq War?
Pakistan Stocks would continue to tumble. Followers of the
Gann theory are certain that if the leading index of blue-chip
shares falls 50% from its peak, then it will fall by half as
much again. So we are expecting Karachi Stock Exchange index
would around 2100-2200 levels during war. This fall could take
days or it could take weeks, but if it happens then, so the
theory goes, the second spell of fall will follow. So we
suggest our investors to wait till that level achieved to have
an entry in stock market.
Rebound Prospects
By historical standards, the current plunges, on the Pakistan
Stock Market is at least, are sufficient to indicate a bounce
to come. "'Buy and hold' is a corrupt, discredited strategy.
We can tell you this from all our analysis." Better to buy
shares when they have "taken a punch on the nose" and sell
once gains of perhaps 20% are seen. "The only way to make
money in the months ahead is 'in and out'. Buy and sell."

GAWADAR
|
Gawadar
is one of the most important coastal towns of
Pakistan
besides being the biggest fishing centre in the
entire coastal belt of Balochistan the coastline is
peculiar in that it has its own characteristics
different from the rest of the Province and Gawadar.
The
most novel development one can associate with
Gawadar is the unusual movement of its population
over the past few decades. While the world is beset
with the prospects of population explosion, Gawadar
faces the problem of ever decreasing number of its
inhabitants.
Gawadar remained under the Ruler of Oman for several
decades. It only became a part of Pakistan after the
transfer of its territorial sovereignty during late
fifties. Till that time Gawadar was under the ruler
of Sultanate of Oman a British Protectorate.
At
present Gawadar continues to be one of the main
centres of human activities in Balochistan where
socio-cultural programmes are organized. Because of
its closer affinity with the Gulf and increased
traffic between the Gulf and Pakistan, Gawadar was
upgraded as an international airport in 1970,
connecting Muscat and Karachi.
PIA
started operating a DC-3 service in 1965. Fokker
service was introduced in 1966 after the runway was
metalled. Gawadar presently handles 20 flights per
week of which four are international. The
international flights are operated both by PIA and
Gulf airlines.
Historically, Gawadar is one place that attracted the
attention of the Arabian Peninsular countries for
centuries and also
Portugal. In fact once Portuguese sea pirates
invaded Gawadar and Pasni.
Lately a contract has been signed between
Pakistan and China for constructing the new Gawadar
Port. This will be very helpful for the largest
Province of
Pakistan.
The province as well as Pakistan will prosper and
Balochistan will be in line with all the other
provinces. |

LIFTOFF! AN
ASTRONAUT'S DREAM
Published for the benefit of young children
With permission from
Astronaut R. Mike Mullane
Liftoff is the true story of the
author achieving his childhood dream of flying into space. The
story blasts young readers into space and thrills them with the fear
and excitement of riding a space shuttle and watching the earth from
300 miles in orbit. This is an educational, inspirational, and
motivational story. With flashbacks to his youth, the author
emphasizes his "normal" childhood. He wasn't academically gifted.
He wasn't an athlete. He wasn't popular. Yet, he was able to make
a dream come true. Mullane's message is that any child can aim for
and achieve significant dreams. Here is episode 1 for you.

Packing
an Emergency Kit : It Needs a Jump
Probably the single most important item you should include in
your kit is a pair of jumper cables. You never know when you
car's battery may run low and you will need the cables to
start her up.
Dead batteries are among the major reasons why people call
auto clubs or automakers for roadside assistance. Save
yourself the expense and time of calling a tow truck. In
addition, you can also play good human role when someone else
needs a jump start.
If you are not sure how to use them, read the instructions in
your owner's manual. Be careful when connecting the cables to
the battery. Besides the traditional cables, there are also
compact cables available that fit into a glovebox.
It's not a bad idea to have a battery booster in your
emergency kit. If there isn't another car around, a booster
containing its own battery can be merely connected to the
posts of your dead battery to give it a jump. |
