To add strength to leg muscles and get a cardiovascular workout at the same time, try climbing plain old stairs. This can be done at home, in your office, apartment building, or on stair-climbing machines in the gym. Climbing two steps at a time is good for building the quadriceps (thigh muscles) and the gluteus (butt). Going down steps builds strength in the quadriceps and to a lesser extent, the hamstrings.

I finally came to my room dead tired, hungry and emotionally shattered. I barely managed to sit on the chair when my roommate who happens to be a local entered the room with a KFC burger and started eating it. In the middle of it he commented, “You look down… what’s up eh? Missing someone?” I told him I missed Pakistan and he replied sarcastically “You kidding me… what do you miss about it?” I said, “You know what Simon? I miss those people who ask you every time they are about to eat something, if you would like to share?” I got to my bed and slept peacefully! It was surprising how I slept peacefully after all this… Well I had learnt something new today and you know what it was?

S
ome thing reminds me of some thing. I'm really confused here. Oh well, let me tell you this incident that has really  shaken me. Not that long ago, a friend of mine was interviewed by a journalist. My this colleague went to my this Pakistani friends's place "Lives in a compound" as interview was on his personal achievements. In his professional career he has achieved a remarkable position and is quite famous not only because of his tale of professional successes but being a true and patriot Pakistani as well despite of holding a foreign passport!
He told the journalist, how proud he was to be a Pakistani.  About his country when asked how much he loves, he said he was incomplete without the land that gave him the education, the food, the love and care, thought him how respect elders and how to be an example for children.
When asked what does he like the most in Pakistan. He answered it is hard to say what I would like the most. The truth is that the three room rented house where I was born, the school which had torn mats to sit for students, the teacher who thought me never to lie, my favorite politician who gave me this lesson to be not a hypocrite, My Molvi sahib who warned me to fear Allah SWT, all those frames of my life, I miss them. In heavy tone of voice he repeats, I miss them all.
My journalist friend felt so proud to interview such a human. Having tears in his eyes he thanked my friend and was about to leave... my friend's 7 years old son entered the room.
Journalist asks him. What is your name son. Boy replies, my name is Ali.
Ali do you know Pakistan asks the journalist.
Ali replied proudly YES
He asks him do you like Pakistani stuff?
He replies YES, of course!
Journalist asks, namely what?
Ali says "Abu Jan"

Ambassador Meets The Parents of SAIS Al-Khobar

(I.Rana. Feb, 2002) The Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan M. Asad Durrani met with the parents of Saudi Arabian International School Pakistani Section at Al-Khobar.
After the recitation from the holy Qura’an the Chairman, board of directors of school presented school report. He told the community that board of directors for the betterment of school has taken various measuring steps. The questions and answers session took most of time. The parents have tons of complaints and questions. This was the first time that any high level dignitary was listening to their complaints and questions. The questions included but not limited to:

  • Why the buses for SR 900 000 were purchased on cash and not on installments when the facility was available?
  • Computers worth SR 100,000 were not purchased but buses were purchased, why?
  • Partiality is exercised in fee concessions to deserving students
  • Parents and teachers are never consulted in important matters by the board
  • Due to the aristocratic and bureaucratic behavior of the board members atmosphere of fear prevails in school staff.
  • Frequent change of Principal disturb the flow of education in school
  • Policy of favoritism and nepotism is considered in hiring the teaching staff
  • Donations of computers by a social organization was refused due to personal interest
  • Why the salaries of teachers have been reduced.
  • Tuition is not allowed outside but is allowed in the school.

The Chairman and Vice Chairman M/s Dr. Bashir Ahmed Naz, Shaukat Ali and Principal Babar Mustafa Butt answered questions and complaints relating to them for example, the buses were purchased on cash as they were cheaper and expenditure is charged to capital expenditure, fee concessions are granted to deserving students only and the shortfall is reduced through meena bazaar in school, the board members are not bureaucrats, they are volunteer workers, we assure the parents involvement in important matters in future and also the constitution is under preparation and will be completed soon. The ambassador in his address said, most of the complaints received in embassy are directly relate to school and most of these complaints are of personal nature rather genuinely addressing a common community problem. He said I don’t recognize any group in school matters. The parents are the legitimate authority for school matters. He said the board is volunteer and elected by you and not imposed by any one else. Let them complete their tenure. It is strange that By-Laws of school are not prepared as yet; I would advise the board to put extra efforts on the preparation of By-Laws. The board should coordinate frequently with parents on important matters and atmosphere of cooperation must prevail among board, school management and parents. He added that is important for the children education. He advised the board to hire or appoint permanent Principal. Referring to a question of favoritism in hiring school teachers he said if some one has solid proof bring it to me and I will take action. Otherwise blaming some one without any proof does not serve good.
