Khatak Chaudhery Bala group capture Al Babtain Volleyball Trophy

RIYADH, Sept. 12, 2000 – Excellent display of volleying by skipper Muhammed Pervez saw Khatak Chaudery Bala Group beat Al Safi club to capture the glittering trophy in the recently concluded first Al Babtain volleyball tournament which was organized by PBT Agaa Al Babtain group.
With colorful decoration of the ground and spectators cheering on, Khatak finally overcame the Safi men in a best of five sets battle. The new champions won 15-7, 15-5, 12-15, 15-9 to the delights of their supporters.
A total of eight teams contested in this month tourney, which was played on a single league system with each teams playing four matches each. In addition to Khatak and Safi, the other teams were Venus, GOSI Hospital, Al Babtain "A", Al Babtain "B", Tamimi and Hardees.
Chief guests Abdul Karim Babtain and Ibrahim Babtain witnessed the climax and graced the awarding ceremony that followed after the final showdown. They presented the championship trophy to Pervez and the runner up trophy to the Al Safi club.
Few individual prizes were also given away for their best performances. The recipients were Pervez, Sudhersan and Abdul Wahab Khan.
The organizing committee which managed this show composed of Jamshed Iqbal Amir – tournament director, with members Anil Kumar, Muhammed Farooq, Sadu, Abdul Karim, Mahmood Alam, Shakeel, Vinod Guppal, Ansar Ali and Khmash.
In his concluding speech, Abdul Karim and Ibrahim appreciated the hard done by the organizing committee in arranging this gala, which has ended successfully. They praised the sportsmanship of the participating teams and fans alike. Both aired words of support to the future sporting activities.
Winding up the proceedings, Amir, the tournament coordinator thanked the chief guests for gracing the final and for their encouragement to the sport activities.
