RIYADH, Feb. 13, 2001 Central Brothers continued its winning march in the NSV soccer mela for the Safa Makkah Clinic rolling trophy when they won their second encounter also against Margab Malayali Association by 2-0 at the Dabbab soccer ground. Both the teams fought well but the experience combined with better coordination made the difference for the victors. Shabeer and Haneefa scored for their team. Earlier, they overcame a tough challenge from NSV Riyadh, winning in the end by a narrow margin of 2-1. Here, Haneefa was on target for the Central Brothers while Afsal netted one for the losers. In another clash, Smari clinic in one-sided affair routed Kama by 7-0. Abdul Latheef was honored for scoring the first hat trick of the tournament. He ended with the figures of four goals. Of the others, Mustafa found the net twice and Abdul Nasser got one in the dying minutes of the match. The last tie of the day between Star Club and Kama ended in a 1-1 draw.
It was well-fought tussle. Milan gave the Star club the lead in the first half but this
was equalized by M. Sarkar in the second half just before the final whistle. |
