LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES CAPTURE NIKE RTTL TENNIS FLIGHT 4 CROWN

RIYADH, July 18, 2000  –As the awarding gala for the lower flight winners ended in an impressive style at the Al Najd compound, the teams of Lucent Technologies, Multinational Tennis Buffs and SAMBA Speedcash grabbed the top honors in Divisions 4, 5 and 6 respectively in the Spring Season Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL).
The prize distribution ceremony for the top divisions 1, 2 and 3 is also planned to be held separately at the Al Najd compound thanks to the courtesy of Abdullah Al Thehaiban, assistant managing director of Sport Ghornatah, the sole agent of Nike sport wears in the Kingdom, which is the main sponsor of the RTTL activity for the last twenty-four years.
In addition to the large crowd, the colorful function was also graced by Farouk El Laithy, the RTTL chairman and A. Al Thehaiban. They presented awards to the deserving teams. Many give aways from Sport Ghornatah during the ceremony made the climax more thrilling for all.
The RTTL organizing committee comprises El Laithy, Mike Maddock – vice chairman with members S. M. Gatchalian, Salim Bitar, Emil Manapsal, John Lagat, Richard Lucardie, Lennie Manzano, Edgardo Dooma, Manny Lector, Larry Bustamante, Chito Abreu, Manny Ortiz, Noli Mendoza, J. Estero, A. Robles, H. Simolde and V. Alegre.
Interested teams in these categories can register for the upcoming Fall Season 2000 on phone cum fax 401-0004, which will begin from September 21. The deadline for the application is September 1.

The winning team with its members along with best-organized team, best players and the best sportsmanship awards’ recipients are:
Division 4: Champion – Lucent Technology (captain Ed Palad, assistant captain Richard Lucardie, Joie David, Robert Miranda, Rolly Barrozo, Ali Hassan, R. Torres, S. Cruz, N. Dimalanta, C. Palad); runner up – Phoibics (captain Chito Abreu, assistant captain Joey Salem, Ding Yambao, Alan Roldan, David Fitzgerald, Norman Espejo, Nilo Guerrero, F. Rojas, G. Taaca, F. Diaz, K. Malayas); most organized team – Security Forces Hospital; best players – Alan Roldan, N. Dimalanta; best sportsmanship – Richard Lucardie, B. Vasquez.

Division 5: Champion – Multinational Tennis Buffs (captain S. Marasigan, assistant captain Lennie Manzano, Omar Shammari, Lofti Maghmoul, Red Gacis, Hibshi Ahamat, A. Dass, K. Tullo, G. Sahibbil, P. Lane); runner up – Somc Socp Fame (captain Bernie Duque, assistant captain Del Serrano, Dan Gonzales, Dan Madrilejo, Ed Yap, Ric Layug, O. Asis, J. Siongco, A. Vila, L. Duque); most organized team – Security Forces; best players – Ali Tago, N. Sanchez; best sportsmanship – Ed Jarin, M. Carido.

Division 6: Champion - SAMBA Speedcash (captain Victor Inoferio, assistant captain Louie Mendoza, Zaldy Valdez, Paul Pagulayan, Jody Ignacio, Peter Manalo, J. Gumaro, J. Ancheta, M. Celera, D. Almazan); runner up – Power Play (captain C. Cabanes, assistant captain A. Villa, Lito Ramirez, Mel Domingo, Larry Miranda, Lito Quiambo, Jojo De Castro, C. Sanchez, T. Acosta, R. Cruz, G. Chu); most organized team – Power Play; best players – Paul Pagulayan, A. Villa; best sportsmanship – Robert Lucero, J. Gumaru.
