Oct. 3, 2000 – The teams of Synergy and Lucent Technologies won their opening matches
in contrasting styles against their respective rivals Diplomatic and Cordoba compound in
Division-1 and Division-2 as the Fall Season 2000 Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL)
got off to a fine start here. In the top flight, Diplomatic line up, the spring season champion suffered a shock defeat in the hand of Synergy in a nail biting finish by 44-45 margin. In some of the interesting matches, Noli Lagare and E. Navidad beat De Souza and Salim Bitar 8-6. The victors kept up the pressure as they won another double encounter when Ebreo and Costumbrado defeated Bitar and Tufenkeji combination 8-7. In Division-2, Lucent recorded an easy victory over Cordoba by 49-35. The pair of Angeles and Palad beat Maihle and Lehoang 8-5. However, in the next, their tandem of Lucardie and Tendencia lost to Le Vinh and Maihle 6-8. The event is sponsored by Sport Ghornatah, the sole agent of Nike sport wears in the Kingdom. Veteran Farouk El Laithy is the chairman of the RTTL organizing committee. Casey-Barabas 8-6, Radam-Aquino lost to Velasco-Smith 6-8, Aquino-Taaca bt. Smith-Williamsen 8-5). Division-4: Al Ghabban Group beat Kingdom City 56-26 (Atienza-Velasques bt. West-Brown 8-5, Barriga-Barricau bt. Brown-Veldsman 8-7). Division-5: Arab National Bank beat Pannesma 54-42 (De Leon lost to
Abiera 7-8, Camara-Galang lost to Abiera-Adalia 7-8, Pangilinan-Estares bt. Camaraon-De
Ocampo 8-6, Camara-Vila bt. Adalia-Syfu 8-7). KFNGH Orrebels beat SFH Programme 45-44
