RIYADH, Oct. 10 – Vinnell had to work hard to breeze past Lucent
Technologies in Division II while in Division III, Cavaliers recorded a facile victory
over Eid Villas in the Fall Season 2000 Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL).
In the lone match played in Division II, Vinnell beat Lucent 46-43. In the opening single,
Leo Malinao set aside Dela Cruz 8-5. In the remaining doubles, Baring-Lopez overcame a
strong challenge from Dela Cruz-Tendencia 8-7. Wrapping the show, Flores-Yapsangco
overpowered Dimalanta-Arellano with an identical score as well.
Battling for the top honors in Division III, Cavaliers had an easy ride over Eid, winning
by 49-28. The pair of Rodriguez-Sajonia lost in one-sided affair to Cris
Butterworth-Afghani 1-8. In the important single, however Onias got the better of
Butterworth. The former won 8-6.
In the same division, King Fahad Hospital-EAC1 and Vinnell Arabia showdown ended in tie as
both teams were locked at 44-all. The hospital tandem of Catiis-Esplanada lost to
Miraflor-Barcelona 7-8. In the next, Esplanada joining hands with Marquez beat Bacud-Kelly
8-6. In the last match, Loh-Tanagan lost to Cabaguing-Flauta 7-8.
