KFH Beat Diplomatic Squad as Nike RTTL Spring Tennis League Gets Off to a Fine Start

RIYADH, April 10, 2000 – King Fahad Hospital I (KFH) got off to a flying start in the top Division I when they scored an easy victory over Diplomatic team by 45-39 in the Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL) 2001 Spring Season League which began action at various compounds here recently.
A total of twenty-one teams divided into five divisions based on their strength of play will battle for the top honors in each Division with prize distribution planned for May 31 at the Najd compound.
The event’s main sponsor is Sports Ghornatah, the sole agent of Nike products in the Kingdom, courtesy of their assistant managing director, Abdullah Al Thehaiban and is supported by BISON energy drink, which is to supply the drinks during the course of the tournament.
Of some thrilling action in the top flight, Othman Al Enezi of KFH won the opening encounter against Grebots 8-4. Salim Bitar beat Petersen 8-5. Enezi joining hands with Loh set aside Bitar and Tufenkeji 8-6. Lastly, Ogaick and Tufenkeji down De Leon and Rodriguez 8-5.
The contesting teams are in Division 1 – Vinnell Tennis, Diplomatic, King Fahad Hospital; Division II – Cordoba, North South, Al Yamama, Arab National Bank; Division III – KFH OR Rebels, Kingdom City, Most Tennis, Security Forces Hospital Program; Division IV – Al Kharj Military Industries Corporation Hospital, Vinnell Arabia, Insurance Hospital Al Hakbani, Electrolink KFSH & RC, King Abdulaziz Medical City Al Makateb I; Division V – Saudi Telecom, Security Forces Hospital Program, King Fahad Hospital Al Makateb II, Cyber 2001, Pannesma.
Farouk El Laithy heads the organizing committee. He is assisted by A. Robles, Larry Bustamante – vice chairmen, M. Carido, S. Marasigan – secretaries, Chris Balint – Division 1 representative, Richard Lucardie – Division 2, C. Santos – Division 3, Nel Lorenzo – Division 4, V. Alegre – Division 5. Others members are Manny Lector, Herman Honrado and Nilo Eugenio.

All other results in brief with some thrilling matches are:
Division 2: North, South Central beat Arab National Bank 51-40 (Driquito bt Al Zahrani 8-6, Lito Hoyimpa bt Talatala 8-5, Eugemo-Capritu lost to Estares-Ardenio 6-8).
Division 4: Electrolink beat Insurance Hospital – Hakbani 52-36 (Tutanes bt Naval 8-6, Malonzo-Fernandez lost to Facal-Balute 4-8, Sahibbil-Robles bt Ame-Somo 8-7). King Abdulaziz Medical City – Al Makateb 1 beat Vinnel Arabia 50-42 (Cayetano bt Gamata 8-5, Tablizo-Catacutan bt Biag-Gamara 8-7, Bascon-Alimpuangon bt Biag-Cruz 8-7).
Division 5: Pannesma beat Security Forces Hospital 56-16 (Abiera bt Gueco 8-5, Syfu-Carido bt Alcarioto-Perez 8-3). King Fahad Hospital – Al Makateb II beat Cyber 2001 54-34 (Castro bt De Castro 8-7, Bautista lost to Jarin 6-8, Viado-Celera bt Alegre-Villa 8-5).
